懲教署今回應傳媒查詢時，否認目前有被告因違紀而被單獨囚禁，並提到其中21人是「主動要求單獨囚禁以接受保護」。署方又稱，一般不評論個別個案，但為避免有人「惡意炒作」，詆毀和抹黑懲教署，特此作出澄清。
